Obamacare will be in full effect come 2015. But what are restaurants doing to prepare? Well some are doing nothing, while others are getting help from customers by being proactive.
Restaurants across the country are putting an Affordable Care Act surcharge tax on meals for customers to pay. Currently, the restaurants that have added the surcharge; have ranged between 1 percent all the way to 5 percent of the total bill.
Thus far, no reports have been made of any customers refusing to pay the surcharge. In a sense, the restaurants are trying to be proactive to ensure they will be able to pay for their employees’ benefits next year.
For any customers that see this as a problem, keep in mind restaurants are going to have to pay Obamacare one way or another. So it’s either getting a surcharge added to your tab, or the restaurants can up their prices on their food and drinks.
You begin to ask yourself is this the end or the beginning of how healthcare will impact society as a whole?
